How has my writing changed?

During the course of academic writing I've written plenty of different papers, obviously, my writing style has been changed. It was rather complicated but interesting course to attend despite the odds.

From the first days we were taught how to write in a formal style and manner. I think it's a very essential aspect for our future. In any case, we will need it in our life. The essay’s foundation is the structure. At the very beginning I knew only some basics from school. But then I’ve discovered that there are different kinds of composition with its own structure, i.e. 5-paragraph essay, “for and against” essay, etc. Another, equally important thing is referencing. It allows you to acknowledge the contributions and work of others in your writing. Moreover, references guards against plagiarism.

What’s more, while writing course we have had some team works. I really enjoyed such tasks. Collaboration within a group can help address the challenges. For instance, by working together, we could make a masterpiece, just remember our magazine which was related to the cartoons: amazing images and ideas! Each team member has something special to offer. I suppose it helped me to develop and improve my communication and organizing skills as well as writing. We’ve received feedback from each other, I think it’s a very salient thing. Speaking about the response, I liked that our teacher has left so many comments shedding light on our problems.

Yet I still have some gaps in knowledge. I have some problems with punctuation because it differs slightly from the Russian language. I’m trying my best not to make mistakes, however, sometimes it happens. Despite of the grammar and writing courses, in some cases I really hesitate about the grammar rules.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that this academic course turned out to be a helpful and fascinating subject. I’m going to evolve my skills in writing, practicing and creating more and more essays.
