Bhopal disaster

      Bhopal's tragedy is the largest in terms of the number of victims of a man-made disaster in modern history. I've chosen this topic because of the consequences of the tragedy that still affects the environment. I am deeply concerned by the continuing serious violations in providing good living conditions in the world and India as well. I think it's important to touch upon such topics to know what has happened on the Earth. 

       The catastrophe occurred as a result of an accident at a chemical factory in the Indian city of Bhopal (the capital of Madhya Pradesh) on the early morning of December 3, 1984. It caused the death of at least 18 thousand people, of which 3 thousand died directly on the day of the accident, and 15 thousand in the following years. The environment is currently in terrible condition, this disaster has aggravated the situation and led to numerous consequences. I would like to consider only a few of them.

       Firstly, the accidental release of a very dangerous substance led to the poisoning of water, air and ground. Everything was dead, the air spread chemicals over long distances, the soil became unsuitable for cultivation and agricultural activities. Rivers were littered with corpses, garbage and dirty clothes. No living conditions remained for the local population. 

       Secondly, people received acute poisoning in which there was rapid pulmonary edema, which led to suffocation and a violation of the integrity of the skin, internal organs and mucous membranes. Moreover, new victims of the tragedy are born with an abnormally high percentage of birth defects, it has also been noted a sharp increase in the incidence of cancer and other chronic diseases. 

      Finally, I'd like to say that the Bhopal's tragedy has been poisoning the lives of people in its outskirts. Residents of nearby areas still suffer the effects of chemical spills and environmental pollution. The site of the factory has not been yet cleaned.
